Pasadena homes and their air conditioning
Half of Pasadena's homes were built before about 1960, so a lot of houses here are on their second or third air conditioner. We size the new system to the house as it is now, not to whatever was there before.
Pasadena starts at about 650 feet at its lowest and climbs toward the mountains. Hot summer afternoons are what an air conditioner here has to be sized for.
More than 4 in 10 Pasadena homes (43.9%) are in buildings of five units or more (U.S. Census, 2019–2023). In apartments and condos the cooling is often a packaged unit, a wall unit, or a mini split where there is no room for ducts.
More than 1 in 3 Pasadena homes (36.3%) were built between 1950 and 1979, and about 1 in 8 (12.1%) since 2000.
We've done HVAC replacements in Pasadena before.
We cover all of Pasadena, ZIP codes 91101, 91103, 91104, 91105, 91106, 91107.
Repair or replace?
We check the whole system first. A healthy compressor with a cheap failed part should be repaired, and that is what you'll hear. When replacement is the right call, you get both options in writing.
HVAC permits in Pasadena go through the City of Pasadena Building and Safety Division.
If the job began as a $69 diagnostic, that $69 is credited toward the replacement.
