Duct cleaning is worth doing in some houses and a waste of money in others, and you deserve to know which you are in before you pay for it. The EPA does not recommend cleaning ducts routinely, only as needed.
We look first. If the ducts need cleaning, we say so and show you why. If the real problem is a leak pulling attic dust into the system, cleaning will not fix it, and we tell you that instead.
Most of the dust complaints we see trace to a leak on the return side pulling attic air into the system, a filter that does not fit its slot, or a dirty indoor coil. Cleaning the ducts does not fix any of those. That is why the visit starts with a look, not a vacuum.
Why people call us for duct cleaning
- Dust after every cycle
- Recent remodel
- Allergies
- New home, unknown history

$69 diagnostic, credited toward the work
- Inspection and access
- Mechanical cleaning of supply and return
- Register and grille cleaning
- Filter replaced
How a duct cleaning visit goes
We look first, inside the supply and return runs, at the registers, the blower compartment and the coil, with photos where it helps. Then you hear it straight: whether cleaning is warranted, or whether the dust is coming from a leak, a bad filter fit or a dirty coil.
If cleaning is the right call, you get a written price for what gets cleaned.
If the real problem is a leak pulling attic dust into the system, cleaning will not fix it, and you hear that instead.

Before you call
The EPA's three cases
Substantial visible mold growth inside the ducts or on other parts of the system; ducts infested with vermin; or ducts clogged with excessive dust and debris that is being released into the home from the registers.
The filter does most of the work
The right filter is the highest MERV rating your system can pull air through without straining, fitted with no gaps around it. A gap lets dusty air bypass the filter entirely. Read more
On a smoke day
Most homes have a recirculating system with no fresh-air intake, which is good news. With a good filter and the fan running it works as a whole-house filter. Check the filter afterwards; it loads up fast. Read more
What gets cleaned when it is warranted
Supply and return runs, the registers, the blower compartment and the coil if it needs it, then a fresh filter. Cleaning the registers alone moves the dust around and calls it done.
Common questions
The EPA names three cases: substantial visible mold growth inside the ducts or on other parts of the system, ducts infested with vermin, or ducts clogged with excessive dust and debris that is being released into the home from the registers.
No. The EPA does not recommend that air ducts be cleaned routinely, only as needed, and says duct cleaning has never been shown to actually prevent health problems. Changing the filter on schedule does more for most houses.
Usually a leak on the return side. It pulls dusty attic air into the system, past the filter, and blows it out of the registers. Cleaning the ducts does not fix that. Sealing the leak does. Read more
Often more than cleaning does. The right filter is the highest MERV rating your system can pull air through without straining, and it has to fit the slot with no gaps around it. Read more
A plain recirculating system with a good filter and the fan running works as a whole-house filter on a smoke day. The filter loads up fast, so check it afterwards. Read more
Yes. We are open seven days, 6am to 10pm.
People with allergies often notice the difference from better filtration more than from cleaning, because filtration removes fine particles every day. If the ducts are visibly contaminated, cleaning them is the right call. Otherwise a proper filter is the better money. Read more
